R/V ShearwaterTeknicraft have designed a hydrofoil-assisted, propeller driven catamaran for Duke University Marine Lab, Beaufort, North Carolina. Primary operation will be within the Beaufort inlet, Oregon inlet and up to 100 nautical miles offshore. This ocean-going classroom is designed to train undergraduate students in oceanography and marine biology. Students and researches will have access to a large working deck equipped with an A-frame, crane, winches and a survey transducer. The interior is outfitted with a wet and dry laboratory, galley and sleeping quarters for extended exploration periods. This vessel is ADA compliant and is surveyed under U.S.C.G Sub Chapter T regulations.
