Lady Elizabeth IV

Following the success of the Teknicraft catamaran built for the Auckland Maritime Police Unit, the Wellington Police had no hesitation to order a sistership to operate in waters around Cook Strait.

The vessel has been designed for deployment on a variety of missions, including inter-coastal police and patrolling duties, customs work, search and rescue work as well as occasional fast transport service. In addition, one of its major roles is to tow stricken yachts and other craft from the notoriously rough weather of the Strait back to the safety of Wellington Harbour. Special high strength towing bollards and equipment have been fitted to the vessel for this purpose.
